The Passion Pursuit Project on Wednesday’s stands alone as a dedicated space for students to explore and cultivate their unique passions and interests, with projects of their choice.

This program is the cornerstone of our curriculum, providing students with a dedicated space to dive deep into their passions and interests. While our full-time students benefit from our integrated approach to learning throughout the week, our Passion Pursuit Wednesday stands alone as a special day where students can fully immerse themselves in projects of their choice.

From creative writing and art portfolios to scientific experiments, video production, cooking, gardening, and even entrepreneurship lessons, the possibilities are endless. Each term, students embark on a journey to complete a project inspired by the term’s theme while also nurturing their own unique interests.

Our expert educators provide guidance and structure each week to empower our students to wholeheartedly pursue their passions.

We cherish the opportunity to nurture our students’ spirits, recognising that discovering and cultivating their passions is truly one of life’s greatest gifts.

TERM 2 2024 - PASSION PURSUIT PROGRAM - NOURISHING OUR BODY, FAMILY & COMMUNITY

We all eat, and food plays a pivotal role in every culture and family worldwide. Based on our overarching central idea for term 2- Food, and our students’ questions, interests and wonderings, our upcoming term’s passion pursuit program is dedicated to exploring practical culinary skills. We will create traditional recipes each Wednesday for 6 weeks. The remaining weeks of the term will see the children gather and apply their learnings to create their own cookbook and/or cooking show episode, harnessing technology skills, presentation and speaking skills, goal setting and time management.

Our goal is to empower our students with essential life capabilities that will form the foundation for years to come, enabling them to nourish themselves and their families through traditional cooking methods and techniques.

We are proud to be offering our term 2 unit handbook to homeschooling families across Australia for FREE!

This handbook is part of our Passion Pursuit Program at Lions which runs Wednesdays of each week.

As we created this term’s Unit of Study, we just knew more families needed to have access to it.

We hope you love it as much as we do! x

This term, our unit at Lions is a food unit, called Nourishing Our Body, Nourishing our Family and Nourishing Our Community.  Our goal is to equip our kids with the fundamentals they need to be able to nourish themselves and feed a family. We have carefully chosen recipes that we think are essential for everyone to know, and incorporated food technology outcomes, english, mathematics and technology skills.

What you get:

55 pages of traditional diet fundamentals for your own homeschool program, including two project outlines, sample outcomes, recommended activities and practical outlines. You can use this handbook in your own homeschool, and it can be tweaked to suit children from ages 8 to 16 with your support.

The first 6 weeks contain practical components, where students practise the cooking skills themselves and learn about knife safety and kitchen skills. Food safety and food presentation is also covered. Also included is valuable information and stories about the importance of a balanced traditional diet, with some background information about broths, fermentation and sprouting grains-  based on Sally Fallon’s classic, “Nourishing Traditions.”

This unit has a two part project component- including a video production and a homemakers book. All the information about the project is included inside.

We hope you enjoy the term 2 handbook, and to our current students- we are so excited to see you and dive into the practicals together.
